I thought this was a lame joke during the first couple of minutes into this set by Shame. Laughably bad. But then a weird thing happened...their quirkiness and the singer's amped up attitude really won me over. Musically they are a perfectly fine post punk group but they're infinitely entertaining just to watch...the music is enjoyable but I'm not sure I'd listen to it on it's own, without the performance aspect. But great fun to watch.
UPDATE: Okay, it's less than 24 hours after first hearing these guys and you know what I said about the first few minutes being "laughably bad"? I don't know what the hell I was thinking! Maybe it just takes a short amount of getting used to but I am officially a Shame fan having watched and listened to some more of their stuff. They are the REAL DEAL and maybe I'm just too old to immediately recognize the real deal but once I come around I usually make up for my misstep in obsessing and devotion. Another side of what looks to be a serious post punk revival. this particular band conjuring ghosts of early Joy Division, the Clash, Gang of Four...you get the picture. Like Bedchamber, the Indonesian post punk outfit, the only thing I don't like about Shame is their name. Maybe that will grow on me too...
