Dylan's voice sounds really good in the musical context. Makes me wonder what other old Dylan songs might sound like given the Avener Rework treatment.
I rather like the sound of the sample I heard (don't have Spotify). Will have to note to track it down somewhere to hear it fully. Always been hot & cold with Dylan though I did recently eye a new concert set release that focused on his "religious" period. I'm a fan of Slow Train Coming disc!
Dylan's "born again phase" as some call it was also a renaissance for him. Unfortunately too many fans don't see it that way because, perhaps, they are uncomfortable with the subject matter. He did tend to go off the rails during performances back then, momentarily ditching his role as songwriter/performer for the chance to be a fire and brimstone preacher man. I can only imaging how that went over with his diehards. As for this "Masters of War" reworking, I quite like it but would be happier if they had used the whole set of lyrics. There are a couple of great lines left on the cutting room floor with this one.
