Upon my first view of Robert Patrick Maguire I thought I would be in for something amateur-ish, kitschy and destined to be snickered at and then quickly forgotten. I was in for a big surprise.
Don't let the simplicity of the album art photo fool you, Maguire has a lot to offer. His guitar playing technique is only a few steps away from rudimentary but he has perfect rhythm and an individual style that is very enjoyable. Raw is probably the best word to describe the songs, like demos that are destined to sound better than any attempt to hone them in the studio.
